Retiring couple just purchased a home in the Mt. Vernon area. It was a 6,000 sq ft house. Even though it’s spacious, it was in desperate need of renovation. Existing fixtures and layouts were dated and did not meet the needs of new owners. Clients are seeking a very large master bathroom and they would like to make it very contemporary despite of the colonial home.
Clients did not want a tub in their bathroom anymore, instead, they preferred a large shower. The designer team met with client and created a complete new layout. It includes the restructure of the bath and combines some part of the closet space and master bathroom.
The new bathroom consists of a very large walk-in shower with double entry, built-in benches, multiple shower heads, also curved glass block partition wall. His and her vanities have been created for clients’ individual needs, also create a better traffic flow. Marble and tile on the floors and walls been used with a very specific handpicked glass tile inserts & designs.
The use of colorful marble counter tops to complement the bathroom spa style, open vanity cabinetry is part of contemporary look of this project. Mixture of hand selected commode and faucets, rain showers, bevel mirrors, and custom lighting are all part of detailed craftsmanship of this fine project.
The difficult process of this project was that the weak flooring which required massive amounts of reinforcement; also, the undersize of electrical that needed to be handled of this project. We implemented to this bathroom heated floors with thermostat controls to give solution to clients stepping into cold floor tiles. Also, we incorporated the use of innovated LED lighting to the enhance this Master bathroom suite.
The outcome of this project was to walk into an extremely delightful and relaxed environment of a master bath suite which is not only inviting but also the client’s absolute dream of a modern bathroom brought into reality.
