• Run of the mill 1990 NV homes with center colonial home, oak cabinetry, laminated counter top, vinyl flooring in kitchen, builder grade hardwood floor and carpeting.
• Homeowners just about had it with builder grade products and wanted a drastic change to their home and lifestyle.
• The flow was very abnormal, appliance locations were not accommodating and difficult to get around.
Challenges:
An angular pantry was placed in an odd position to hide plumbing and duct work buried behind it. This made the kitchen entrance from front foyer very awkward.
The storage was limited. Bulkheads were full of pipes and needed to be relocated.
A bearing wall between the kitchen and family room was opened up to create a double sided cabinetry.
Custom copper range hood required a 12” exhaust pipe and make up air system installed and located in the back area behind the stove.
Gas line for new 48” range was ran from the outside main gas meter.
Design solutions:
A double sided cabinetry was placed instead of wall between the kitchen and family room. On the kitchen side it is a Cappuccino bar with beverage center, coffee maker and bar sink. Behind it we installed glass cabinetry equipped with sound system for large TV installed over the fireplace.
The old pantry closet was torn out and all plumbing stacks behind was relocated and allowed us to place a 48” fridge and open up a space for a 48” gas range and its custom made range hood.
One of the features of this job is the large custom made farm style copper sink that stands alone by itself.
Carefully choosing a cherry wood cabinetry with a Sage stain complements light color Quartz countertop and extremely custom made and high end heart of cherry wood planks installed throughout the entire first floor.
A 4’x 12’ center island was installed to allow large gathering and serves as a casual eating place for their daily use.
Stacked wall cabinets with display lighted ones on top taken over the bulkheads and pipes placements.
Outcome:
The exotic hardwood plank has made a tremendous transition from the run of the mill builder grade wood and vinyl floor to a new era.
Now this household gets to gather around the center island and enjoy their daily activities without running into each other and not being in a jam over the work space.
This New Era of ranch style cabinetry, wood floor and rustic hood, sink and other little accent pieces made this project one to stand alone.
She loved the complimenting stacked backsplash tiles with espresso stain color of Island cabinetry.
