Updating a 1959 Falls Church Kitchen

Originally built in 1956, this Falls Church rambler had a floorplan typical of homes of the era. Its rooms were small, tight and walled off from one and other, giving family members a dark, cramped feeling. Even a 20’ x 20’ sunroom addition, completed in 1968, did little to change the vibe in part because the home has a flat roof. The home’s new owners purchased it for its location in the heart of the city with full intention of gutting and remodeling the main level as soon as their budget allowed.
