2014 NARI CAPITAL COTY, FINALIST AWARD WINNER, RESIDENTIAL KITCHEN UNDER $40,000
A young couple recently purchased a new condominium in middle of Fairfax hoping to convert this fixer up to their future nest.
The way that the old kitchen was set up has limited storage and totally dysfunctional for their day to day use.
The wall with window and southern exposure was blank and did not serve any purpose
Their goals were to maximize the space, storage, update the look to more contemporary flair and have better appliances and amenities
Designers went to work and drew up plan to revamp this small kitchen to much more functional kitchen to meet this new couple.
The plumbing for sink and dishwasher were relocated under the southern window,: bulkhead and its contained ducts/plumbing were re-routed to allow taller cabinetry
The partial wall between kitchen and Living room was removed and now a peninsula were implemented to allow storage on side and seating for bar stools on other.
The better use of pendent lights, inside and under cabinet lights and new recess lights were all contributing to brightening this kitchen
Use of complementing glass backsplash tile enhanced the cherry cabinets with its Ebony glaze and carefully selecting the granite color to tie it all together.
The smart use of glass tiles in back wall of peninsula made it kitchen to pop up.
The couple were extremely excited to move in to this kitchen and get to use all of their updated appliances. Now they feel they have enough space for all their kitchen stuff.
