After living in their Oakhill, VA home for few years, this couple was getting to attack the unfinished basement and finish it to all around entertainment Mecca.
They have approached our firm with some developed drawing and sketches that they been contemplating for years.
Our design staff have thoroughly examined their sketches, yet came up with new and improved version floor plan which satisfied all their requirements. What was important to them, was to have an open and inviting entertainment area, bar area, theatre style seating, gaming area, a full bath, exercise room and a full guest bedroom for in laws.
The stairway from main level to basement was positioned in way that made the basement lay-out very choppy and not so desirable.
The hot water heater and HVAC unit was taken over the middle of the basement and was very awkward.
Our staff has redesigned the staircase to be relocated to widen the game room area and allow us to better use the main basement area, we also opened up one side of the staircase to create more open feel. Then we have relocated the entire HVAC and hot water heater and main stack duct work to allow room for our New bar area. With this action we have a much opener field to stage our theatre seating space.
We design a wall with built-ins on far end that accommodated the 80” TV and all sound equipment’s. Embedded surround sound and speakers serves the entire basement from this central location.
We have taken out the back French doors and replaced with windows to create a cozy seating area and gathering place. With inserting a linear gas fireplace on the south wall surround with metal linear stone and floating stone heart, this space has a unique charm of its own.
With replacing a window and placing the French door across the bar, we have improved the flow from basement to backyard flagstone patio area.
Just across the French doors we have laid out the immaculate bar seating with gorgeous pin drop pendent lights, exquisite marble top bar, dark espresso cabinetry, tall wine Capitan, and lots of other amenities. Our designers introduced a very unique glass tile backsplash tile to set this bar area off and also interconnect this space with color schemes of fireplace area.
The other end of the basement was now belong to a guest suite bedroom and bathroom, the bath was designed with a walk in shower, floating vanities, pin hanging vanity lights. Tile and fixture selections for this bathroom put this bathroom step above any of the projects in this category.
The new gaming area have a bar ledge for setting drinks, and custom built-ins to display arts and trophies.
Just to right of the staircase we have created a room for exercise space covered in rubber floorings.
The wide plank grey tone engineered wood floors softly harmonizes the stone walls, bar cabinetry textures.
The multiple tray ceilings, indirect lighting as well as wall sconces and drop lights have all made this basement one for the books.
The vivid color tones, stunning fireplace wall, and multiple furnished area setting has made this couple put this basement space to its maximum use with their parties and casual gatherings.
She said: “ I didn’t imagined this in my wildest dream”, as how happy it made her.
