Have you ever found yourself in a situation; shopping for a new home and visiting the model home, falling in love with this model home and immediately signing on the dotted line. Yet after a few months of moving into your new home, you realize that the kitchen and the layout of the main level is not working out for your lifestyle. The model home was furnished with beautifully loaded furniture enough to distract you from concentrating what is really important to you.
Well, this just happened to this couple purchasing their new home in Ashburn, VA.
A few months in this home, she didn’t think her kitchen location is ideal, no natural light and the location were too disruptive with their daily routine.
Our staff met with the couple and shine light on–let say not well spaces in their main floor layout that could change their design dramatically.
Their kitchen now is placed between the back of two-story family room and front dining room. To the left of the family room they had a breakfast eating area that was not serving any purpose to them.
Our design staff put together a design to incorporate breakfast area, along with stealing a couple feet from adjacent pantry space to create her dream kitchen.
By knocking down few bearing walls, we have placed her main sink area under the large backside windows. Now, they have a kitchen where they can look into their beautiful backyard setting. A major load bearing wall between the old breakfast room and adjacent two-story family was taken down and a big steel beam took place, creating a large seamless connection between the new kitchen and the rest of the home. This caused to create steel post supports as well in the basement with new footing to carry on the added steel beam weigh.
We have implemented a large island with prep sink, microwave and lots of seating space around it. That is one the biggest reasons she needed the new kitchen.
Large scale professional appliances along with stunning mosaic backsplash tiles complementing this amazing kitchen design.
Double barn style door in front of pantry area is setting off this storage space nicely tucked away from the rest of the kitchen
We have removed all the old tiles and installed matching wide plank distressed wood floor to create a seamless connection to the rest of the home. A matching butler pantry cabinet area just outside of the dining room and a wine station/drink serving area between family room and main foyer were added to better utilize for their multi-functional needs for their gatherings.
Now more than ever, she enjoys spending time at her bright and open layout kitchen, and asking all friends and neighbors to look into similar conversion of their kitchen.
The custom inset cabinetry with double layers, exotic stone countertop, distressed ceiling beams, and more amenities are just to name a few for this outstanding project.
The old kitchen was totally gutted and converted into a lounge/conversation area which is well suited for the original space.
