Growing family with 3 children are seeking budget-sensitive addition/ spatial reconfiguration to enlarge existing 12’ x 18’ kitchen of 20 year old center Hall Colonial.
Plan calls for architecturally sympathetic 12’ x 10’ breakfast room addition with southfacing bay window seamlessly integrated into existing elevations.
Owners also want “open” configuration plan providing physical and visual connectivity to adjacent 12’ x 24’ family room, a requirement that entails removing an interior bearing wall. On this score, open interior must be finished in a way that mainstreams resulting great room as integral to a well-articulated interior design concept.
Owners are also seeking a better-rationalized floor plan with more sensible, step-saving locations for surfaces, major appliances.
Segue to adjacent family room and dining room, respectively, should be designed for improved functionality. Solution should also provide for substantial increase in cabinet storage.
