BATHROOM-408
BATHROOM-408
1986 Townhome is part of the Lake Anne Community in Reston, VA overlooks the Lake. The panoramic view from old master bathroom was breathtaking and the owner wanted to have the same experience inside as it outside scenic view.
The old Jacuzzi tub used to take a large floor space seating under the back window. The old fiberglass shower stall was small and simply not adequate. The space was jammed and dysfunctional.
Goals:
Better traffic flow.
Larger and much more functional shower stall with dual use.
Taking maximum advantage of the lake view.
Bringing a Roman style thyme into the new bathroom.
Design changes:
The vanities were on the left wall just across the bathroom entry. Now we have moved all plumbing to right wall just outside of the window. The beautiful curved slab of exotic marble was cut for vanity top and two hand crafted tumbled stone vessel sinks are on top it.
The old whirlpool tub was deleted and a small corner tub took its place but it is only occupying half of floor space.
The entrance door and closet door were both relocated to allow for new toilet location and new shower stall location.
The toilet now hidden by a half privacy wall was moved to the right of new vanities and will no longer be an eyesore. The new and improved roman style enlarged shower stall has taken the place old vanities.
Double rain shower, double body sprays and built in niches, arch headers and heavy glass enclosure, creative use of mosaic tiles and medallion has made this shower stall jewel of this project. Dark cherry cabinetry complimented cream rustic tumbled marble and oil rubbed bronze fixtures.
Outcome:
This couple has never been happier to use their master bathroom .They get to have their own Roman style bath experience by taking a few step from the bedroom. Looking out of this gorgeous bathroom overlooking the lake just cannot be expressed with words.
