Kitchen 101 Gallery

In a tiny older home, this kitchen was open to the dining area, but was not a good use of storage space, and the owners wanted to open it up to their back yard with double doors, instead of having the one single door that was located in the middle of the kitchen, chopping up the space. We replaced the two small windows in the kitchen with one large one, and removed the door, extending the cabinetry further into the dining room. We wrapped the cabinets in the corner where the door had been, and installed the French doors in the dining area. We installed full height cabinets in most of the kitchen, with the exception of the supporting beam over the window. All new black appliances and a larger refrigerator, full granite backsplash, and new wood flooring add a luxurious rich palette to this kitchen. The under cabinet lighting helps keep it from being too dark. The homeowners wanted wine storage and cookbook storage, which we built into the island, which has space to sit and additional counter top for meal preparation.
