All white builders grade kitchens are very common these days. This one had a good amount of space, but for a homemaker that loves to cook and bake, it was inadequate in space, as well as not functional. She wanted to have more space to bake, meaning a larger island, as well as space at that island for her girls to be there when she’s working. She also wanted them to have a desk nearby to work on their homework ,and for her to work on her crafts. The family room that is adjacent to the dining area also did not have any storage, and she wanted to get the maximum amount of storage from wherever she could. We moved the wall back to utilize some unused space, and added lots more cabinetry, along the walls, in the island, and on a peninsula dividing the kitchen and family rooms, as well as at the desk. She now has a very large island with a granite top she can roll out dough for pies, and it has seating space for the girls. Her desk helps keep all of her craft supplies organized, as well as having glass front display cabinets for glassware. We upgraded her appliances, including giving her a professional range and a large refrigerator with water in the door for the kids. We also gave them a bar area just near the formal dining room entrance, to facilitate serving of all kinds.
