Kitchen 105 Gallery
This kitchen in a two story contemporary home was cut off from the dining and living areas by a corner wall. The ceilings in the house are cathedral style, but that did not help make the kitchen feel any larger. We removed the corner walls in order to open it up, and replaced the one wall with an island housing a wine refrigerator and wine rack, with a dual height granite serving bar. The couple can sit at the island, use it to serve, and socialize with guests when entertaining. Removing the walls also improved the flow through the kitchen and dining and family rooms as well. It’s also made the entire space feel much larger, and the dramatic custom touches on the range hood and mouldings on the cabinets, help make it a dramatic focal point that appears to be more like furniture than just cabinetry. The couple actually has the space to entertain more people than before, and do it more comfortably.
