These homeowners wanted to update their small kitchen and open up their small spaces into one larger one. We sealed off a pantry closet behind the kitchen and used it for a bath, and widened the hallway and dining room openings, but the most dramatic change was to remove the wall between the family room and kitchen. What a difference it made. The space felt huge afterward, and that allowed us to share the traffic aisle between the two rooms, and create a large island just below the skylight. The storage in this kitchen increased dramatically in spite of having removed the pantry cabinet. The sliding glass doors let in so much natural light to the family room now, that the whole place glows. The kitchen is a showplace.
