Kitchen 116 Gallery

This kitchen has lots of space, but it was very dated, being over 25 years old. The homeowners wanted a more up to date look, as well as more upscale materials. They also wanted to brighten up the kitchen, and they were tired of the dark cabinets. They still wanted to have some of the warmth of wood, so we installed wood flooring and cream washed maple cabinets to brighten everything up. They chose a complimentary color of granite that has blues in it, and we installed a full granite backsplash, which gives it a very upscale look. This kitchen had a corner stove, which was an interesting feature, so we kept it as a focal point, and built a custom range hood into the design. Taking out the old peninsula brought the breakfast space back into the kitchen, and eliminated a very distant counter that only served to cramp the breakfast area. It was too far from the other preparation areas to be of any use. We moved the refrigerator onto the opposite wall, and it’s now flush with the cabinetry so it doesn’t stick out. The change in placement of the appliances makes it more functional. As an added touch, we arched the doorway into the family room and installed a bar area just on the other side of it, that matches the kitchen cabinetry. There they have a sink and wine refrigerator.
