The homeowners wanted to update this large kitchen and have warm woods, but not dark cabinetry. They like bold colors and wanted the kitchen to be a focus of the family room next door. We removed the peninsula and created an open space with an island with a cooktop. The breakfast area is large and bright. We made sure that the traffic pattern through the room would not be cut off by the breakfast table. The kitchen has upscale appliances and plenty of lighting. The glass front cabinets at the back wall help make the kitchen be more ornate and give them display space. The island has lots of storage space, as well as the cooktop, and there is no vent hood because it’s a downdraft ventilation system, that is also very quiet. We installed double ovens because they like to cook.
