This kitchen has an oriental flair. The deep tones of the cabinets with just a tinge of red in the finish contrast with the light tones of the tumbled limestone tile backsplash so it does not get too dark. There are plenty of glass front cabinets to help break up the expanse of solid cabinet doors, and the stainless steel appliances reflect light. The large windows in this kitchen bring in lots of natural light, and the three pendants over the large island also keep it bright. There are decorative handles in stainless steel, which in this case is a neutral color. The deep blue granite counter top is a nice contrast to the red in the cabinets. We created a wall of cabinets for the pantry which also contains the refrigerator and wall ovens. The island has a sink so it can be a second prep area if the kids want to help with the cooking. There is also a desk area for the kids to use, as well as the wife for planning the week’s activities.
