These homeowners wanted to update their large kitchen and add storage space and counter space for both preparation and eating. They also felt it was too cut off in some areas, and the large pantry closets were not a good use of space. We removed the double wall ovens that were at the corner of the counter and hiding the butler pantry near the dining room doors, and created a pantry wall with one of the new ovens, refrigerator and microwave, convenient to the island for the kids to prepare meals and snacks. We created a larger island with seating space and storage, and shifted the cooktop and oven over to allow more space by the sink for food preparation. We installed cabinetry that used the space above, and a decorative wood enclosure for the sink light that hides miscellaneous electrical and plumbing items that we could not move out of the area. The colors are all neutral and keep the kitchen bright and feeling as large as it is. The surfaces are all easy to maintain, and tie the whole area together.
