Kitchen and Bathroom – 2102
This four-story townhome in heart of old town Alexandria was recently purchased by this family of four.
Moving from a large Ashburn home into a compacted townhome with city life was exciting yet challenging for them
The old gally kitchen and confined spaces, no powder room in main level, dropped down ceiling, partition walls, small bathrooms, main level laundry room are to name a few of deficiencies they wanted to resolve before moving in.
Starting for top floor, we have converted the small bedroom for their master suite, they have outdoor deck with beautiful view of old town. We have reconfigured the space to create a walk-in closet and his closet (you all know who will get the larger one!)
Then taking some space from old closet and enlarged the master bath to have bubble bath tub and a walk-in shower,
Double floating vanity and hidden toilet space were a must for her.
Adding lighting and glass transoms allowed light into staircase leading to lower level. On the third-level was place for girl’s bedroom. New bathroom with walk-in shower and added space from hallway making them to be able to share this bathroom.
A stackable laundry space was added in the hallway, few steps from this level now is the study with build its, French doors and matching hardwood floors throughout.
The main level was totally revamped. Walls taken down, floors got built up to add extra insulation, new wide plank hardwood installed all over, ceiling were raised, New HVAC was added for three levels.
The storage closet under steps was converted to a new main level much-needed powder room. Electrical panel had to be relocated to allow this space.
The new kitchen with a big implemented island and plumbing for sink, dishwasher and lots of storage was placed in center of this open kitchen
South wall filled with floor to ceiling cabinetry home for new cooktop and stainless-steel range hood, covered with glass tile backsplash
The dining room wall was taken down and combined the area with kitchen with added butler style cabinetry, wine fridge and glass cabinets for displays
The living room old fireplace was torn down, revamped with a gas fireplace wrapped in stone,
Built-ins added on both end of the living room giving floor to ceiling space for her to display her trophy arts.
Endless amount of lighting fixtures such as Led, sconces and ceiling fans have made this project immaculate.
We have added brick veneer on east wall to replicate the historic old character of old town homes.
The open floor plan with seamless wood floor and central kitchen has added warmth and more desirable entertaining space for them.
They get to move in to their new home in a city life after all, its all a big change but a good one the way she puts it.
