Whole House – 1902
Whole House – 1902
This property has owned into a breathtaking wooded backyard in heart of Kingstown, Alexandria community. The busy household bought into this property wishing to take most advantage of their scenery while getting to spend their time at home in this outdoor living space.
The old wooden deck was small and didn’t offer any great advantage for them to enjoy the outdoor in the four seasons.
Our design staff met with the couple and heard their agenda. They both wished for a huge screen porch just outside of the Kitchen and dining room area, offering them a big gathering options, a fireplace, and entertainment space for large sporting event or family gatherings.
We have converted the current window from dining room to a set of French doors to allow better flow in and out of home. We installed large scale wood looking porcelain tile complimenting the stone wall of the fireplace. A double stacked fireplace was installed with a ventless stainless unit inside of screen porch and wood burning fireplace just below in in the stoned patio area. Big screen TV was just mounted over the mantel.
Beaded panel ceiling covered the tall cathedral ceiling, lots of lights, craftsman style ceiling fan and hanging lights complimenting the wicked furniture has set this screen porch area above any project in its class.
Just outside of screen area to Trex covered deck with a pergola given them a grilling and outdoor seating space. Through a set of wrapped around staircase the upper deck now is connected with the magnificent Lower patio area. All covered in flagstone and stone retaining wall, has given a big outdoor entertaining option in lower level just outside of basement French doors. Hanging out in this relaxing porch and view the immaculate wooded backyard is highlight of their end of the days.
The biggest challenge of this project was the topography of the back yard, we had to excavate and grade the backyard in order to implement the big concrete patio and the tall stone cover retaining walls. Wide set of stone steps allowed walking from lower patio to wooded backyard. The left side of this patio was set for round seating wall in front of this gorgeous fireplace, given them option for those chilly days roasting marsh mellow and setting fire.
The ambiance of this screen porch area with its dramatic black and with trim color tones, rustic country style furniture setting is just priceless.
