Active family of five has moved back from England into a secluded Great Falls neighborhood looking to expand their kitchen.
The primary goal was get away from a lined kitchen into a larger gourmet kitchen, as the husband is a proud cook of their bunch.
Dark oak cabinetry covered with even darker granite top and dark wood floor was all scream for designer help.
Objective: gourmet kitchen, large island with main cook sink, very large professional appliances, lighter floors, brighter kitchen, functional mud room
First & foremost we could not accomplish what they were asking within existing space and had to bump out the kitchen by four feet to accomplish this first goal. This required installed a major steel beam to hold the entire second floor and roof load for entire 25 feet wide kitchen and removing the entirety of the kitchen back wall
The entire bulkhead with its duct and plumbing for second floor contents were relocated through basement and middle wall allowing us to bust thorough the back wall of the kitchen. The plumbing and electrical were all relocated for an island sink and main sink under the new bay window overlooking scenic back yard. A new wide French door with sidelights was installed in the breakfast area letting much more daylight inside.
New contemporary double stacked custom chosen and painted cabinetry were installed in the parameter of this new kitchen , while the center island stands out by using a quarter sawn oak wood grained cabinets stained in a boulder sage stain. Covering it all we carefully selected an exotic light stone and custom honed the surface.
The right wall of the kitchen (adjacent to three door garage) were moved back to allow tall pantries, and 72” of refrigerator/freezer to be placed and still have adequate space for hutch cabinetry.
The south wall is the home to price winning large range and stainless hood , pot filler with in wall plumbing and a stunning stone back splash tiles.
The Island is massive and totally meets their need for kids gathering and doing the homework around it while the elderly prepare their next meal.
The new wood floors was taken over the old one with lighter and more efficient finishes. Creative use of innovative lighting solutions pops up this project to be a bright one.
Just behind this nicely put together kitchen is the home for new mudroom/ laundry room. The new design allows all kids to have their own locker style space. Wife has her washer/dryer and slob sink with added storage and counter space for folding and organizing overages.
The light and bright kitchen of their dream was sealed, stamped and delivered to this new arrived family to enjoy to rest of their lives.
