This family of three has been residing in this confined yet upscale townhomes of Clarendon in Arlington. The couple have been contemplating upgrading their kitchen, baths and various spots of their homes for a longtime.
After consulting our design staff, they made the final decision to revamp the entire three levels of their home. Starting will leaky doors and windows, we have replaced them all with new upgraded Andersen windows and French doors. Then the gutters and down spouts got replaced with bigger gutters caps and down spouts connecting underground drain systems.
Entering from the front door, the foyer and hallway was furnish with new linear porcelain tiles, new lighting and as you enter the home an area dedicated for locker style closet.
Going through the hallway you will reach the Recroom area which wood paneling, no lighting and an aluminum slider. We have refaced it all with New French doors, recess lights , cherry floor, intricate paint color and a built in desk area. Now this area serve them well for casual entertaining and in home office.
The staircase and entire railing systems were replaced with wooden treads and risers and matching railing.
The main level contains of small kitchen, pantry closet, a combined Living and dining area.
We have taken down the partition wall between kitchen and living space, relocating all plumbing and sink to outer wall. Then repositioned the powder room, not to open in old kitchen space, then demolished the pantry closet and moved refrigerator and pantry cabinets on that wall. This action made it all possible to create a larger center island looking over the backyard. Also the open floor plan with continues wood flooring made the entire first level open and inviting. The use of recess and pendent lighting has created better illusion for this space.
The old wood burning fireplace with brick heart was converted to gas fireplace covered in stylish stacked stone front. Built in bookcase were hugging this fireplace form both side, and a built in bench was added under the box bay window area.
They are getting to have larger gathering in their home and enjoy every bit of it since in past they were not so keyed on entertaining in their small living space.
Going up another level, we enter the daughter’s bedroom on the right. The room needed reorganizing, adding built INS and some shelving, new wood floors and better lighting.
Her bathroom was a bit tiny and with couple small twicks we were about to better use of the space, with new decorative tiles and more cabinet space, she is loving her new bath and her new amenities. She is only seven but smart as seventeen years old and know what she wants.
Master suite; the closets were dysfunctional, and limited. We tore all of it up and created custom built in for both of them, taking some dead space from hallway we get to enlarge the entrance to master bedroom and closet space.
The Master bathroom was converted to large shower stall space with built in bench, lot of cabinet and storage space. Another cavity converted to nice glass front linen cabinet space.
Better lighting throughout, continuous flooring and staircase, lots upgraded amenities, open floor plan and kitchen on main level are just tip of the iceberg for this Clarendon townhome.
