Military couple living in south Springfield area of Virginia, were in desperate need of additional space in their second floor. With two teenage daughters and just two small second floor bathroom and three small bedrooms, it felt like walls were closing up on them. Also the basement Laundry room were no longer fitted their busy lifestyles.
They needed help and really soon. The two door garage space attached to home was the best place for expansion. Busting through the garage roof and bumping up a 24’x28’ addition with front and back overhangs have opened up a major space for them. While keeping up with the front elevation and harmony with community and neighborhood, we have just made them a secluded, yet amazing master suite.
Breaking through side wall of the old structure behind this barn door, now it was the master bedroom with tray ceiling, lots of windows, and west side transom, built in cabinetry, his and her custom built closets, and just steps away the master bathroom suite to die for. Large walk in shower, medallion embedded floor tiles, and custom built vanities and sconce lighting, separate water closet area and a lot lot more amenities that they ever imagined.
Converting the old walk in closet to a 6’x10’ laundry room, with washer, dryers, utility sink and lots of cabinet and counter space. New tile floor and 5” x ¾” solid exotic wood floor has taken over the entire second floor. The bigger challenge of this job was to supply plumbing and HVAC ducting for new living space and new laundry room.
Closing up the old master bathroom, and repositioning the vanity and toilet locations and allowed us to redirect this bathroom to be used for the older daughter princess’s bath.
